Simon Thew is named Houston Ballet’s new Music Director
Houston Ballet has appointed current Associate Conductor Simon Thew as the company’s next Music Director and Chief Conductor, effective July 1, 2024. He will succeed longtime Music Director Ermanno Florio, who is stepping down at the end of the 2023-2024 season after 32 years in the role.

November is National Homeless Youth Awareness Month
For many of us, November is the month of Thanksgiving and the beginning of the holiday season. It is a time when people gather with family and friends to express gratitude and appreciation for the good things in their lives. Families celebrate Thanksgiving as one of the few days of the year they are blessed to have so many loved ones under the same roof. Those less fortunate may spend Thanksgiving in homeless shelters or the cold. A few may receive a traditional Thanksgiving lunch, but many others will go hungry.

Two employees of a national tank cleaning company suffered injuries when exposed to hydrogen sulfide – a flammable, highly toxic colorless gas – that was present during the cleaning process of a tanker truck on April 25, 2023, in Beaumont.
