Kroger will partner with Montgomery County, City of Houston and Harris County to offer no-cost Covid-19 testing.
Kroger today announced five free COVID-19 testing sites across Greater Houston and Montgomery areas. Kroger will partner with the City of Houston, Harris County and Montgomery county to provide free testing for all priority groups, including healthcare workers, first responders and symptomatic groups. The sites join Kroger’s existing sites across several states, including Colorado, Michigan, Ohio, Kentucky and Tennessee.

The 2018 Bayou City Art Festival Downtown, produced by the Art Colony Association, Inc. (ACA), has selected six local nonprofits that will benefit from a portion of the proceeds of the event. The weekend celebration will be held Saturday-Sunday, October 13-14, 2018, 10 a.m.-6 p.m. and will spotlight 300 artists from around the country representing 19 different disciplines in Downtown Houston.

Results for the greater Houston area’s annual Homeless Count and Survey were released today, revealing a remarkable, one-year 17 percent decrease in street homelessness from January 2022 to January 2023. Mexican-American conductor Donato Cabrera will guest conduct the Houston Symphony on Friday October 13, 2023 at 7:30pm at Jones Hall for the Performing Arts (615 Louisiana Street). Cabrera joins the Houston Symphony for its annual Fiesta Sinfónica, a free performance that dates back to 1992, celebrating the musical contributions of Latin American and Hispanic composers. The program for this special performance includes Márquez’s Conga del Fuego Nuevo, Rosas’ Sobre las Olas (Over the Waves), Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue, Contreras’ MeChicano (Texas premiere), the third movement from Orbón’s Tres versiones, and Bernstein’s “Symphonic Dances” from West Side Story. Venezuelan pianist Gabriela Martinez is the soloist for Rhapsody in Blue, which will celebrate its centennial anniversary in 2024.
