XXL Transcript - Baton Rouge native Caleb Brown has been working continuously throughout the summer since the release of his All Dawgs Go to Heaven 2 album at the start of the season. Today (Aug. 10), the rising rapper drops the visuals for his song “RIP Chad Butler,” which serves as a tribute to the late Pimp C.
In the new set of trippy visuals, directed by Evan Kidd, Brown and his friends hang out in a parking lot, all while some pixelated filters act as heat waves.
The “Ghetto Religion” rhymer delivers some summer street vibes here. As for the inspiration for the music video tribute to Pimp C’s legacy, Brown was sticking to his roots. “I wanted to give off a vintage southern feel while mimicking project artwork to the fullest,” he tells XXL. “I wanted it to feel like you were watching an exclusive tape.”
Now that his new video is out, Brown, 18, is focused on his plans for the rest of the year. “Jump into the studio and continue to work on music and push out content,” he explains of what’s next.
