Atlanta, GA — 16-year old Jewell Jefferson from DeKalb County, Georgia was recently found shot in her bed. Police say she was rushed to the hospital, but later died.

Jewell’s mom was the one who found her in her bedroom and noticed immediately that something was wrong.

The shooter, 17-year old Carl Moore, reportedly turned himself into the police, and was arrested after confessing to the crime. Investigators say he was a family friend.

Police are currently interviewing him to find a motive.

Her father told reporters that Jewell was “full of life,” had many friends, was about to graduate high school early, and had just received her driver’s license and a new job.
