Christmas is coming early for Houston Food Bank with a gift of $226,000 from Chevron Corporation (NYSE: CVX) that will provide two new, temperature-controlled mobile food pantries. These trucks will facilitate increased distribution of perishable items like meat, milk and produce to 19,000 people per month, especially to areas that continue to be the most impacted by Hurricane Harvey.

This gift is part of a larger $2 million donation announced by Chevron last week as part of the company’s long-term commitment to help the Greater Houston area recover from Hurricane Harvey. The additional contributions from Chevron, its employees and retirees increase the total donated to Harvey Relief and Recovery efforts to a total of more than $4 million.

On December 21, the trucks will be used to host a mobile pantry Food Fair at one of Houston Food Bank’s member agencies, Impact Houston. Chevron employee volunteers will set up the mobile pantry and help distribute food to neighbors in need.

Chevron also invites the public to be a part of their Support the Holiday Season promotion – make a donation to the Houston Food Bank now through December 31 and Chevron will match your gift, up to $75,000.
