Gigi Graces Second British Vogue Cover
Style Magazine Newswire | 2/1/2017, 11 a.m.
As she makes her second appearance on the cover of British Vogue, Gigi Hadid has spoken for the first time about the reaction to her September 2015 open letter on body shaming. In the interview that accompanies her cover shoot, the model admitted to Derek Blasberg that she was overwhelmed by the response.
“The response was crazy," she told him. "From Victoria’s Secret Angels to my friends who are considered plus size, everyone texted me and said they appreciated me saying something. The world puts so much pressure on fashion, then judges models for succumbing to that pressure."
Photographed for the piece alongside her brother, Anwar, the famously private model also shares a little about her private life. For her part, Hadid says that she and her singer boyfriend Zayn Malik are just like any other couple.
“When I’m in LA I mostly stay in because it’s my time off and I like being with my boyfriend and doing art and cooking," she explained. "We like late-night movies and we order from this amazing place that does lattes and gingerbread cookies. I need coffee to stay up. I’m always like, ‘Babe, let’s go to a movie.’ Then I fall asleep halfway through and he’s like, ‘You’ve seen the first half of every movie out there and you have no idea how any of them end.’”
