M. Night Shyamalan's new thriller Split was the No. 1 movie this weekend at the US box office. It extends its streak to three straight weeks at No. 1, dating back to its debut on January 20.

Entertainment Weekly reports that estimates pegged Split to have made $14.6 million at the US box office this weekend to take the top spot. Rounding out the top five were the new release Rings ($13 million), A Dog's Purpose ($10.8 million), Hidden Figures ($10.1 million), and La La Land ($7.5 million).

The video game movie Resident Evil: The Final Chapter dropped down to No. 6, taking in $4.5 million.
