Tornado damage in the Wharton area

HOUSTON - A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 1 p.m. Tuesday for Austin, Brazoria, Calhoun, Chambers, Colorado, Fort Bend, Galveston, Grimes, Harris, Jackson, Liberty, Matagorda, Montgomery, Polk, San Jacinto, Walker, Waller, Washington & Wharton counties.

There are confirmed reports of tornado damage in Fairchilds, Texas - in Fort Bend County - according to the National Weather Service. "A trained spotter reported a brief tornado touchdown about 6 miles SSW of Rosenberg," NWS tweeted.People in Stafford area convinced it was a tornado that caused serious damage and caused a wall to collapse in an industrial area.

Our crew in Wharton found extensive damage at Citywide Storage on Richmond Road. After the storm passed, one woman drove there to check on her belongings that were stored because of the last major flood.

The small town of Van Vleck in Matagorda County appeared to be the hardest hit. Officials have confirmed at least two injuries there.
