National Auditions for Dreamgirls Kick Off In Houston

Auditions for the upcoming Theatre Under The Stars production of Dreamgirls will kick off in Houston on January 27-28, 2017.

Houston, TX - Auditions for the upcoming Theatre Under The Stars production of Dreamgirls will kick off in Houston on January 27-28, 2017.

The Houston auditions will take place at the Hobby Center for the Performing Arts in the Administration Building, located at 800 Bagby St., Houston, Texas 77002, and the schedule for the days will be as follows:

Friday, January 27th - 5-9 p.m.

Saturday, January 28th - 2-6 p.m. - Dance call; 6-7 p.m. - Dinner; and 7-9 p.m. - Callbacks (as needed).

Please note all dancers must arrive at 2 p.m. to sign in.

[CURTIS TAYLOR, JR]: Male, 25-45, African American. Slick businessman who becomes Dreams' manager. Seduces both Effie & Deena. Tenor.

[EFFIE MELODY WHITE]: Female, 20-30, African American. Full-figured. Lead singer of Dreams. Huge gospel belt voice. Singing lead riffs & vocal gymnastics required.

[DEENA JONES]: Female, 18-27, African American. Young, thin & beautiful member of Dreams… the Diana Ross figure. Mezzo, full belt, some scat-singing.

[JAMES “THUNDER” EARLY]: Male, 25-40, African American. James Brown-like star who takes on Dreamettes as backup singers. Rock tenor. Singing lead riffs & vocal gymnastics required.

[MARTY]: Male, 25-45, African American. Veteran music agent. Baritone.

[LORELL ROBINSON]: Female, 18-30, African American. 3rd “Dream”, who enters into chaotic relationship w/James. Soprano, on top of most triad harmony, full belt.

[C.C. WHITE]: Male, 18-25, African American. Effie's songwriter brother. Very endearing & earnest. Beautiful ballad voice.

[MICHELLE MORRIS]: Female, 18-30, African American. Effie's replacement. Thin, attractive. Good, full belt; sings bottom in triad harmonies.

[MALE ENSEMBLE]: Male, 18-39, Extremely strong dancers who sing to play various ensemble. Understudies will come from the ensemble. Seeking actors of all ethnicities and backgrounds for these roles.
