Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, released the following statement calling for enhanced diplomacy to resolve the crisis in the Gulf State of Qatar:

“With the deadline for compliance to a list of demands fast approaching, the crisis unfolding between several nations in the Gulf and the Gulf State of Qatar is nearing a critical intersection. Without restraint, this situation could soon escalate from sanctions to more serious interventions.

“It is time the nations involved stop issuing ultimatums and begin a realistic dialogue about how this dispute can be resolved peacefully. To this end, the Trump Administration should call for enhanced diplomacy in order to deescalate the tensions in this vital region of the world.”
