Controversy is swirling around Harris County Judge Hilary Green. She has been accused of using her bailiff to obtain drugs, hiring prostitutions, and sexting in the courtroom. Green’s ex-boyfriend, Claude Barnes, is making these accusations. These allegations are not unfamiliar as similar claims were made in her divorce proceeding from former Houston Controller Ronald Green. Even though Judge Green was overwhelmingly reelected as justice of the peace, the Texas Supreme Court has suspended her court, although Judge Green has not been charged with any crime. Her suspension will last until a civil trial can be held to consider whether to remove her from office. Chip Babcock, Green’s attorney, has stated that all allegations against his client are not true and that she cannot be removed from office for incidents that happened before November 2016.
