Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee Announces public and private sector Department of Homeland Security Funding Opportunities for State and Local Preparedness

Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committee on Homeland Security, announced the Department of Homeland Security State and Local Preparedness Grant Programs which are now accepting applications for fiscal year 2017:

“Protecting the homeland from the threat of terrorism requires constant vigilance by federal, state and local law enforcement agencies and their partners dedicated to ensuring America’s security,” said Congresswoman Jackson Lee. “That is why it is so critical for qualified applicants to apply for these grants to make investments that can enhance our nation’s collective state of readiness.”

The available grants which total more than $1.6 billion, are to be allocated to 8 programs identified by the Department of Homeland Security as essential to achieving the national preparedness goal of a secure and resilient nation. Those programs include the following:

Homeland Security Grant Program

Nonprofit Security Grant Program

Tribal Homeland Security Grant Program

Intercity Bus Security Grant Program

Intercity Passenger Rail Program

Port Security Grant Program

Transit Security Grant Program

Emergency Management Performance Grant
