This is the time of year where students are awarded for their accomplishments over the past year. One local seventh grader at Lance Cpl. Anthony Aguirre Junior High School received a very usual award. During Lizeth Villanueva’s AVID class, advanced learning and college prep program, she was given the ‘Most Likely to Become a Terrorist.’ The award was given as a mock award along with others as ‘Most Likely to be Homeless in Guatemala’ and ‘Most Likely to Blend in with White People.’ The teacher distributing the awards said they were meant to be funny but no one is laughing. The principal of the school has since apologized to students, parents and the community and a made a promise to investigate the incident.
