Several sponsors, including Goya Foods, AT&T, Corona, Coca-Cola, JetBlue, the Yankees and television stations Univision, Telemundo and NBC-TV, have pulled out of this year’s Puerto Rican Day Parade set to take place in New York City on June 11th, following the parade’s decision to honor Oscar Lopez Rivera with a National Freedom Award. Lopez Rivera, who had been serving a prison term in connection with several bomb attacks by the FALN in the U.S. during the 1970’s, had his sentence commuted by President Obama last year and remains a controversial figure, seen as a terrorist by some and a political prisoner by others.
