Charges have been filed against a suspect arrested in the fatal shooting of a man at 12500 Sandpiper about 2:10 a.m. on April 5.
The suspect, Terry Eugene Thomas (b/m, 45), is charged with murder in the 184th State District Court. He is accused in the killing of Crystal Rose, 27, of the above address, who died at the scene.
A photo of Thomas is attached to this news release.
HPD Homicide Division Sergeant S. Murdock and Senior Police Officer B. Evans reported:
Mr. Rose had an argument with his girlfriend during the early morning hours at the apartment complex at the above address. The altercation escalated and, when she returned to the apartment, Rose assaulted her. When another resident of the complex offered to help the girlfriend leave the location, Rose became upset. He then returned to the apartment and retrieved a firearm.
Rose returned from the apartment and threatened to shoot several other persons who had gathered outside the apartment building. An unidentified male, also in the courtyard outside the apartment building, produced a firearm and fired it, fatally striking Rose. HFD paramedics responded to the scene and pronounced him deceased.
Further investigation identified Thomas as the suspect in this case and, on May 15, he turned himself in to HPD investigators without incident.
