Houston police are investigating a fatal crash that occurred at 11000 Homestead Road at about 4:40 p.m. on Sunday (June 18).
The identity of the male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant L. Ross and Officer N. Luu reported:
The driver of a black Kia Forte was traveling southbound on Homestead and failed to control the speed of the vehicle as it made an unsafe lane change between two vehicles. The Kia struck the front of a gray Chrysler 300 and the rear of a gray Dodge Dart. The impact forced the Dodge to veer to the right off the road. The Dodge then struck a fence and rolled over. The Chrysler went into a grassy median, struck a tree, crossed the northbound lanes of the road and then struck a fence on the east side of the street. The Kia then struck a pole on the west side of the street. The front seat passenger of the Kia died at the scene. The driver of the Kia was transported by HFD paramedics to an area hospital with life-threatening injuries.
A total of six other persons from all vehicles were transported to area hospitals with non life-threatening injuries. It is not believed alcohol was a factor in the crash.
The investigation is continuing.
