Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Leadership appointee to the House Budget Committee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, issued the following statement in support of Congresswoman Nancy Pelosi's leadership of the Democrats in Congress:

"Democrats in Congress are working hard to fend off Republican-led attacks on working families. These attacks have come in the form of a horrific and dangerous health care bill, tax reforms that benefit only the extremely wealthy and a proposed travel ban that tears apart families and defies American values of inclusion and tolerance.

"Leading us in this battle is Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, who continues to stand front and center to ensure that Americans don't have a health care system that throws 23 million people off of health insurance. Pelosi stands with children, students, seniors, the disabled and others whose voices need to be heard by those in power.

"One of our key goals as Democrats is to make sure that we have the ability to lead this congress in 2018. Against all odds, I believe we will win because of the leadership of Nancy Pelosi. Our leader embraces all people and is respected across the nation. The attacks against Pelosi are absurd and do nothing but distract us from our agenda of improving the lives of the American people."
