Another day another footwear company allegedly stealing ideas from a competitor, as adidas and adidas America have filed a federal lawsuit against ASICS America, claiming that the company has infringed on 10 fitness tracking patents.
According to the lawsuit, the American extension of Japan-based ASICS is “knowingly and intentionally” continuing to sell products that infringe on technology that adidas has invented, centering around applications that collect fitness activity and provide training plans.
In addition, the suit also mentions FitnessKeeper Inc., a digital fitness company acquired by ASICS in 2016. adidas is hoping that the court will put a stop to ASICS America’s infringement on the patents, as they are also seeking damages.
The lawsuit was filed on Friday in a federal court in Delaware. Back in 2014 adidas filed a lawsuit against Under Armour, mirroring similar issues.
