Jack Yates High School, the second oldest African American high school (1923) in the Houston Independent School District, is the only high school in the country to have a full Davinci Resolve 12 system with the break out panels. Students just completed hard work on their first PSA/short film with color correction and grading. Yates High School offers the second oldest magnet program for communications in Texas. It is the alma mater of Roland Martin, Debbie Allen, and Phylicia Rashard. The program, since 1950 has offered commercial photography. Since 1978 it has offered Graphic Design, Narrative Film, Sports Media, Radio Broadcasting, and Printing Technology. The program is dedicated to providing students exposure to 21st Century media careers and boasts an impressive arsenal of equipment.
