HOUSTON – May 2, 2017 – Houston-area runners and walkers, gather your friends and family and take your marks at the Houston Heights Association’s 32nd Annual Fun Run. Scheduled for Saturday, June 3, 2017, at Marmion Park, 1800 Heights Blvd., organizers have added a certified 10K Race to the day’s events, which include a certified 5K Run, a 5K Walk, a Kids 1K Race and The After-Race Party in the Park.

“The Houston Heights Association is excited to welcome Houston runners and their families to the Heights again this year for a great race experience and a chance to enjoy the Heights community and its amenities,” Damian Ogier, the HHA committee chair of the Fun Run, said. “Our 5K race is considered one of Houston’s fastest and we expect great results for our 10K runners this year as well.”

The certified race course runs along scenic Heights Boulevard starting and ending at Marmion Park. Run Wild Sports Timing will be in charge of tracking each individual runners’ time with disposable timing chips, with individual results available immediately through text message. The Kids 1K race will not be timed.

On-site registration will begin at the park at 6:15 a.m. with the 5K Run starting at 7:30, the 5K Walk at 7:35, the newly added 10K run at 7:40 and the Kids 1K at 8:30. The Awards Ceremony will begin at 9, with medals being presented to the top three male and female runners in 13 age groups and to all Kids Run participants.

“The beautiful, historic tree-lined boulevard we run along sits at the heart of a vibrant urban community full of great retailers and restaurants, historic homes and parks,” Ogier said. “With plenty to experience around the Heights after the race and with the addition of a 10K race this year, we really think there aren’t many good reasons to miss this event!”

Various Heights eateries and local businesses will be on-hand at The After-Race Party in the Park, providing refreshments and goodies for runners and their families.

Registration for the 5K Fun Run and Walk is only $25 through May 27th, the 10K race $30 and the Kids 1K race just $15. Registration fees increase after May 27th. Participants who register by May 15th will receive a commemorative t-shirt, with additional shirts available on a first-come basis thereafter.
