Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Member of the House Budget Committee, issued the following statement about the CBO score of Trumpcare, the Republican Health Care Act that leaves 23 million Americans uninsured:

“The Trumpcare Act that GOP lawmakers rushed through Congress has finally been revealed for what it actually is: a high speed super-highway to misery that adds millions to the rolls of the uninsured. The CBO score reveals the ugly truth. In order to give $600 billion in tax cuts to corporations and the wealthy, hard-working families will suffer greatly with an additional 14 million Americans without insurance next year, and 23 million by 2016 while gutting guarantees for people with pre-existing conditions.

“The President and his party had an opportunity to lead responsibly. Instead, they have turned their backs on the most vulnerable among us telling millions of Americans in need of health care to simply fend for themselves. It is an obscene and inhumane philosophy forcing hard-working families to go it alone.”
