Washington, DC – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, released the following statement on the deadly church shooting in Sutherland Springs, Texas:
“Today, we witnessed a horrific act of gun violence at a place of worship. Tragically, the mass shooting at Sutherland Springs First Baptist Church near San Antonio left more than 20 people dead and dozens more injured.
“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims, their families, the first responders, and the people of this small community who are now reeling from this senseless attack. As Texans, we must unite behind them, to lift them up, and to help them heal from this dreadful tragedy.”
