In the spirit of Thanksgiving, Randalls Food Markets is giving 1,500 turkeys to the Houston Food Bank for distribution via 20 of their local hunger relief member agencies to families at risk for hunger in our community. The agencies will gather at the Randalls at 9660 Westheimer at Gessner. As the impact and devastation from Hurricane Harvey reached across the country, Albertsons Companies (parent company of Randalls) family of 21 banners nationwide, initiated in-store fundraisers for disaster relief. This effort, combined with generous donations from customers and employees across the nation, resulted in a donation of $1, 242,381.42 to the Houston Food Bank! The turkeys (each one 10 lbs on average), are the equivalent to 15,000 pounds of turkey, which is more than 28,000, 6-oz protein-rich servings!! Randalls has made this turkey donation annually since 2002, which means a total donation of 21,000 turkeys in the last 14 years!
