November 28, 2017 – The Boys and Girls Club of Brazoria County will present it ‘Great Futures Gala’ Saturday December 2, 2017 at the Dow Academic Center at Brazosport College. The event starts at 6:30 p.m. with dinner catered by On The River and music by “The C.I.T.Y.” band.

Honoring Judge Ogden Bass

This year the Gala will honor local founder Judge Ogden Bass and feature former NFL and University of Texas standout Vince Young as the guest speaker. The evening will be emceed by Natasha Geigel of Fox 26 News. Post Harvey Pressure

In the aftermath of Hurricane Harvey, the club and its members experienced unusual financial pressures. “So many of the people who were flooded during Harvey not only had their homes damaged but they also missed work and were not paid during that time,” Newman said. “Add to that the flooding that occurred in locations where flood insurance was not available. People at or near the bottom of the economic and employment scales had even more put on them. It is for them and others like them we raise money and the Gala is a great way to do so.”
