HOUSTON, TX – Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on Judiciary and Homeland Security and Ranking Member of the Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security and Investigations, issued the following statement announcing the opening of a Disaster Recovery Center in southeast Houston:
“Ever since the devastation of Hurricane Harvey, I have been fighting to bring additional resources to neighborhoods impacted by the storm through the establishment of Disaster Recovery Centers. DRCs serve as a conduit linking victims of the storm with the crucial services they need.
“That is why I am pleased to announce the establishment of a Disaster Recovery Center at Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church, located at 3015 North MacGregor Way in Southeast Houston. This DRC, which will open its doors on Monday, October 2nd, 2017, will support an area of Houston that was hit particularly hard by the hurricane.
“These centers are needed to meet the ongoing demands of residents seeking to recover and make their lives whole again. In addition to bringing more DRCs to neighborhoods, I am working with local, state and federal officials to extend benefits under the Disaster Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program or D-SNAP which help feed families in need.”
