The University of North Texas is taking on a troubling statistic. The school found that it is retaining just over 73 percent of its African American male students. But several campus groups are trying to make a difference. According to NBC5, students realized that a support system is needed to be successful in college and achieve your goals. One student developed a mentoring program to support and motivate his peers called The Dedicated Men. The program is helping as the one in three instead of one in four (as previous years) African American males are staying in school rather than dropping out.
