The City of Houston Joint Information Center (JIC), which has been activated since Thursday, August 24, 2017 in response to Hurricane Harvey, will formally stand down and all City of Houston Public Information operations will return to normal at 5 p.m. TODAY (Thursday, September 7).

The JIC was established to coordinate emergency public information across City departments and with partner agencies. JIC personnel (city public information officers) fielded numerous calls from local, national and international media, and coordinated emergency alerts and social media across the City.

The City's Emergency Operations Center (EOC), which is the City's emergency response coordination center, remains activated to Level III (Increased Readiness) until further notice with representation from various emergency response and recovery agencies.

Houston residents may access information on the City's recovery efforts at houstonrecovers.org, and ongoing emergency operations, such as evacuations at houstonemergency.org.
