Houston, TX (April 2018) -- Houston plastic surgeon Dr. Scott Yarish, of Yarish Plastic Surgery, to provide free reconstructive surgery for the less fortunate in Mexico.

Dr. Scott Yarish, Houston’s premier plastic surgeon, will travel to Guerrero, Mexico, from May 17-21 in order to provide complimentary reconstructive surgery to people in need through the Crystal Foundation.

“The mission of the Crystal Foundation is to bring reconstructive surgery to children of families who do not have alternate means. It is our desire that children with congenital malformations do not have to live their entire lives with disabling deformities,” said Dr. Yarish, an acclaimed, double-board-certified plastic and cosmetic surgeon.

The Crystal Foundation was founded in 1993. Since that time, Dr. Yarish and his medical team have performed thousands of life-changing surgeries. They typically perform over 50 surgeries each trip and work up to 20 hours a day.

“Most of our surgeries are performed to correct cleft lip and palate as well as congenital hand deformities, allowing affected children to lead normal lives,” noted Dr. Yarish. “Members of our surgical team have also removed breast tumors, treated skin cancer and assisted people with a myriad of other medical conditions.”

The Mexican government and Rotary have provided a clinic for the Crystal Foundation’s use in Guerrero. Its core surgical team now consists of four plastic surgeons, four anesthesia professionals, several nurses and assistants, and a biomedical technician.

The Crystal Foundation collects tax-deductible funds from contributions that are used to provide surgery for these disadvantaged children. “Financial contributions are also used to purchase materials that we are unable to obtain through donations,” concluded Dr. Yarish.
