With increase wealth people are more prone to invest in property ownership. This is the hope of The Houston Black Real Estate Association while they hosted their Community Wealth Building Expo. The goal is build black wealth through homeownership. The local chapter of the National Association of Real Estate Brokers hosted the weeklong conference to also celebrate the 50th anniversary of the Fair Housing Act, signed on April 11, 1968, one week after the assassination of Martin Luther King. Professionals from the banking, housing, and insurance fields were on hand at the conference to help improve the social and economic conditions for all disenfranchised people.
