Washington, DC –Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a senior member of the House Committees on the Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Budget, and Ranking Member of House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, Homeland Security, and Investigations, will convene law enforcement and community leaders to stop the proliferation of 3-D guns into our communities. In our country, we have a gun epidemic, as evidenced by a plague of mass shooting casualty incidents which garner national media attention, and the daily, drumbeat of gun violence which plagues our communities and neighborhoods. Against this backdrop, the Trump Administration cleared the way for the publication of instructions so that any individual—irrespective of prior criminal history, ties to terrorism, or concerns about mental health—can print instructions, assemble the parts and have at the ready a firearm capable of inflicting violence. While a federal judge sitting in Seattle has temporarily halted this practice, it is time for Congress to pass legislation codifying the prohibition against these weapons. Join Congresswoman Jackson Lee, together with leaders of law enforcement and community leaders, as we work towards a solution to this problem.
