AUSTIN – Governor Greg Abbott has appointed Roger Nober and Virginia Prodan to the Texas Holocaust and Genocide Commission for a terms set to expire on February 1, 2021. The commission ensures that resources are available to students, educators, and the general public regarding the Holocaust and other genocides, as well as compile lists of volunteers, survivors, liberators, scholars, and members of the clergy for educational program opportunities. The commission also coordinates events around the state.

Roger Nober of Fort Worth is an executive vice president at BNSF Railway Company. He was previously appointed by President George W. Bush as the chairman of the United States Surface Transportation Board. He is a member of the Jewish Federation of Tarrant County, The Warm Place of Tarrant County, American Association of Railroads Policy Committee, and the Northwestern University Transportation Center Advisory Council. Additionally, he is a former member of the Texas 2030 Commission and former board member of Cook Children’s Medical Center. Nober received a Bachelor of Arts from Haverford College and a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School.

Virginia Prodan of Dallas is an international human rights attorney, speaker, and author and works as an allied attorney with Alliance Defending Freedom. She was exiled from Romania in 1988 after Nicolae Ceausescu order her assassination. She is a member of the Colorado Bar Association and the Romanian Bar. Prodan received a Juris Doctor degree from Bucharest Law School in Romania and a Juris Doctor degree and a Master of Laws, LLM International degree from Southern Methodist University Law School.
