“Stuttering is something that runs in the family and it’s something we never talked about,” Moore states. “I had to fall in love with my speech impediment to help me overcome the fears of being in the forefront.”

According to the Stuttering Association for the Young, five percent of all children [more common in males than females] stutter and often have feelings of guilt or shame for improper speech. This can attribute to having high anxiety levels. Because of this, Moore was enrolled in speech therapy as a child and was later prescribed anxiety medication called LEXAPRO by a neurologist. Determined to overcome her condition, she stopped taking the medicine, started doing more research, then used her company AMooreFitBody to enhance her health and communication skills.

“Most people adjust versus find solutions,” Moore states. “It’s all psychological; our brains move faster than we are able to articulate. However, learning how to breathe and pacing my breath flow was key to controlling my anxiety and speak properly. This was accomplished through working out and being healthy.”

Moore and her sister Sade Moore both share this communication disorder. The now business owners are climbing peaks against the odds to share their ideas.

“This business has made our sisterhood stronger,” sister Sade states. “She is giving people hope.”

The AMooreFitBody brand works hand in hand with Smoothie King’s motto "Living a Healthy and Active Lifestyle." Opening up a Smoothie King were the sisters way to give back to the city in an entrepreneurial way.

Recently, the Smoothie King sister-owners partnered with Brazosport Independent School District and the Rotary Club for the Back to School Drive. Together, the Moores’ donated 100 backpacks to the students for the fall 2018 school year.
