Nonprofit organizations You Are a Queen and Kings II Kings in collaboration with Franklin Beauty & Barber Institute, Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee and the Santana Dotson Foundation, hosted its 1st Annual Student Appreciation Day Back-to-School event for the City of Houston benefiting students living in homeless shelters. Up to 500 students from the ages of seven to 17 years old received free hair services from the Franklin Institute, free dental cleaning along with dental hygiene education, backpacks filled with school supplies, school uniforms and words of encouragement from former NFL Champion Santana Dotson to start their year off right. Even two local Walmart chains has donated $1,000 in gift cards to help with additional back-to-school supplies. Pierre hopes this event will serve as a spot light for kids residing shelters because they get looked-over a lot in life.
