Carol Alvarado Wins Special Election for Texas Senate District 6

The voters have spoken and they have Rep. Carol Alvarado has emerged as the winner of the special election to fill the Texas Senate seat left vacant by Sylvia Garcia.
Last month Sylvia Garcia won the Congressional seat vacated by the retiring U.S. Rep. Gene Green. Thus, promoting her resignation as a Texas State Senator. Garcia will become one of the first Hispanic women to represent Texas in Congress.
Rep. Alvarado had three other opponents - Rep. Ana Hernandez, Martha Elena Fierro, and Mia Mundy. Alvarado won 50.4 percent of the vote while Hernandez took 24.3 percent, Fierro took 23.2 percent, and Mundy took 2.1 percent.
