In celebration of Black History Month, Mayor Sylvester Turner and Comcast will honor 10 community volunteers at the inaugural Mayor’s History Makers Awards. Honorees will be recognized for their commitment to making a difference in the community through volunteerism, mentorship, advocacy and civic engagement.

Friday, February 9, 2018, at 12:00 p.m.

Honorees were judged on criteria that included their personal impact in the community, helping further the mission of a nonprofit organization and overcoming personal obstacles.

In addition to being recognized, each honoree will be featured in a 30-second Public Service Announcement that will air on Comcast. The company will also donate $1,000 to the nonprofit organization of the honoree’s choice.
