Investigation into Fatal Crash at 8400 South Sam Houston Parkway East

Houston police are investigating a fatal crash at 8400 South Sam Houston Parkway East about noon on Saturday (Jan. 6).
The identity of the deceased male victim is pending verification by the Harris County Institute of Forensic Sciences.
HPD Vehicular Crimes Division Sergeant K. Harris and Officer E. Morgado reported:
The victim was driving a gray Ford Mustang southbound on Fondren when he was struck by a gray Lincoln Aviator that ran the red light while traveling eastbound on the Beltway 8 service road at the above address. The Mustang spun and then clipped a black Infiniti M37, which was stopped at the light. The Aviator jumped a curb and came to a stop in the parking lot of a gas station.
Paramedics pronounced the driver of the Mustang dead at the scene. The drivers of the Aviator and Infiniti were not injured.
The at-fault driver of the Aviator showed no visible signs of intoxication and was questioned and released pending further investigation.
