Louisville, KY — A mother in Kentucky was arrested after she left her three children in a cold car with 15-degree temperature while she was shopping at Walmart.
The police responded to the area following the concerned customers who saw the children. A four-year-old, twenty-month-old, and six-month-old were found inside an unlocked car with windows partially rolled down.
Police called emergency medical services since they do not know how long the children were left in the nine-degree “brutal cold.”
The 28-year-old mother, Broquel King, returned to the car claiming she had only been in the store for five minutes. But the police were there with the children and the car waiting for her to come back for more than 20 minutes, according to the police report.
“[The] suspect’s actions placed children in substantial danger of death or serious physical injury due to the extreme cold,” a Louisville officer stated in the arrest report.
She was being held at the Louisville Metro Corrections on three counts of wanton endangerment, three counts of criminal abuse and a count of disorderly conduct.
