Turner Announces Only One MLK Parade for Houston in 2019

Mayor Sylvester Turner has announced to support The Black Heritage Society’s Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade as the city of Houston’s official MLK Day parade. Therefore, there will only be one Martin Luther King, Jr. Day Parade in Houston in 2019. The parade will be held on Monday, January 21, 2019 in the heart of downtown. The Black Heritage Society held the first MLK parade in the nation and is officially sanctioned by The King Center in Atlanta, GA. The mayor encourages citizens, sponsors and participants to honor Dr. King’s legacy and unite for one special MLK Day Parade that reflects the diversity and inclusion of our great city.
