Former mayoral press secretary, Darian Ward, will soon have her day in court after surrendering to authorities earlier this week. According to reports, Ward was indicted on charges of failing to comply with the Texas Public Information Act. Ward could possibly spend up to six months in jail and pay a fine for failing to reveal numerous work emails after being requested to do so. She first became press secretary under Mayor Annise Parker and was kept by Mayor Sylvester Turner. She is accused of using government time working on her personal side projects instead of city business. A public records request was made to view Ward’s emails, which she failed to turn over. Ward is now out on bond.
