A documentary film on Sandra Bland will run on HBO in December. A former Naperville resident, Bland was arrested after a traffic stop in July 2015 in Waller County, Texas, and died in police custody. “Say Her Name: The Death and Life of Sandra Bland,” an HBO Documentary Films production, follows her family’s search for answers during the two years after her death. Besides questions and comments from Bland’s mother and sisters, the directors weave Bland’s own voice into the film through her online video series, “Sandy Speaks.” The film is directed by Kate Davis and David Heilbroner. The film premiered in late April at the 2018 Tribeca Film Festival in New York.
