Washington, D.C. - Congresswoman Sheila Jackson Lee, a Senior Member of the House Committees on Judiciary, Homeland Security, and Budget, and the Ranking Member on the House Judiciary Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism Homeland Security and Investigations, and a leading voice on immigration issues, will be joined by her colleagues to tour immigration facilities in the Rio Grande Valley and to help bring an end to the inhumane treatment of innocent children being taken from their parents at our border. Reports indicate that in the six weeks the policy has been in effect, close to 2000 children have been cruelly separated from their parents. This has to stop.

Pursuant to her Congressional oversight responsibilities, on Sunday, June 17, Congresswoman Jackson Lee will tour the Border Patrol Processing Center in McAllen; the Hidalgo Port of Entry; and the Port Isabel Detention Facility in Los Fresnos. On Monday, Congresswoman Jackson Lee will tour and inspect Casa Padre in Brownsville—the facility where unaccompanied children have been quarantined following separation from their parents.
