Now in its third year, the Houston Latino Film Festival puts Latino culture on the big screen. The non-profit organization is dedicated to developing, promoting and increasing awareness of Latino culture among Latinos and other communities by presenting a variety of art and films to the Houston area. Featured films come from all over the world and Houstonians can be proud as a native Laura Somers’ Rich Kids made its debut. Rich Kids tells the story of underprivileged youth in today’s society through the eyes of six Latino teens who decide to break into the mansion of their rich neighbors, known as “Los Ricos.” The film gives audiences a glimpse into the despair, hopes, and dreams that youth from low-income communities go through daily.
