At 72-years-young, Doris J Blake graduates with honors from Texas Southern University!

A rich story of moving beyond the setbacks, she put off her education to raise her children and grandchildren all while being the primary caretaker to her ailing mother. Despite all of those obstacles, Doris will not only receive a Bachelor of Arts in Business Administrations but will be the university's oldest graduate during this weekend commencement exercises.

She states the hardest obstacles wasn’t comprehending academic assignment but tackling the ever changing technology that has a presence in higher education.

“I almost gave up having to upload, download, crop, and paste, and meet 11:59pm deadlines.”

It’s truly a heart warming story rich in perseverance and grit, and almost 50 years later to finally be able to say she has earned a college degree is truly the accomplishments dreams are made of!!

After sharing this moment with her graduation class, Blake plans to do the only logical choice, she plans to enroll in a Masters degree program and start a non profit program to help those that are making a transitioning from the corrections system back into society.

She smiles big and belts out “ Ain’t no stopping me now... I’m on the move”
