(November 6, 2018-Houston, TX) The Twelve Days of Christmas, Inc., celebrates 20 years as a volunteer service organization committed to sharing the treasures of Christmas with less fortunate families while promoting social awareness of issues specifically facing children. This year the charity commemorates its 2 decades of service with a Legacy Tea “Brewing Infinite Possibilities” on Sunday, November 18th at the Junior League of Houston from 3-5pm.

Founded in 1999 by a mother-daughter duo, Gayla and Donya Gardner, The Twelve Days of Christmas has since expanded its efforts through a network of volunteers in six cities: Houston, Texas; Oakland, CA; Dallas, TX; Washington, DC; New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; and they are honored to have a 7th chapter starting in Detroit, MI, this holiday season. The mission of the Twelve Days of Christmas is to share blessings with others through collective effort, charitable activities and community involvement. To celebrate its 20th Anniversary, the organization will launch the R.E.A.D. Program (Reaching for Empowerment Achievements and Discovery). The program’s focus is to tackle the basic challenges of reading in a population of at-risk youth who often lack access to books and other necessary academic resources. The goal is to encourage a desire to read in young children which, in turn, will expand their knowledge, vocabulary and language skills; thus, increasing their aspirations to achieve. The R.E.A.D. agenda emphasizes the value reading can have in a child’s future.

The Chair of the Legacy Tea “Brewing Infinite Possibilities” is the organization Co-founder Gayla Gardner. ” We are so excited to celebrate another year of providing support to local families,” says Gardner. “Providing our youth with the skills and resources to read and succeed is a mission that can bring about real change,” says Co-founder Donya Gardner. Honorary Chairs are mother and daughter Dr. Yvonne Cormier and Claire Cormier Thielke. This mother-daughter duo represents a powerful legacy of community involvement that epitomizes the Legacy Awards. The award will recognize generations of generosity and service in the Houston community. To sponsor or purchase event tickets visit,
