Two majors in the Dallas Police Department were fired by Chief Renee Hall. The two women were fired amid accusations of being paid or taking gifts to prepare officers for a promotional exam. LaToya Porter is accused of helping draft the Nov. 2017 sergeant’s exam. Then through her private company, Rank and File Development, she provided exam training to sergeant candidates for a fee. Porter has denied any wrongdoing and claimed to have followed department policies and procedures. Porter's attorney John Bickel promises a response to the termination of his client. That likely means lawsuit. Paulette Richardson, a 21-year department veteran, is accused of taking money and or gifts from subordinate employees, then interfering with the integrity of an administrative investigation. The department says the rank of major is an exempt position, so the two women cannot appeal their firings.
