October 11, 2018 – Houston, TX – On November 10, 2018, This Woman’s Work, a non-profit 501(c)(3), will hold its annual Stilettos & Champagne Fundraising Reception Saturday, Nov. 10 at the Julia Ideson Library, located at 550 McKinney St, Houston, from 6:30 – 10 p.m.
Stilettos & Champagne is an engaging and interactive event intended to entertain the community through fashionable fun while promoting empowerment for women and girls. Attendees will enjoy a show-focused fashion show, hor d’oeuvres and plenty of champagne. The program will also include the presentation of The IronWomen Awards, where individuals will be recognized for their work in the community to positively impact the lives of girls and women. Fashion vendors and a silent auction help round out the experience. All proceeds from the event support programs aimed at empowering girls and women.
Entrepreneur and philanthropist Carla Lane, CEO of LaneStaffing, created Stilettos and Champagne as a way of combining her passions – champagne, shoes and service to others – as part of an already robust charitable giving program via This Woman’s Work.
“Our programs lead to social and economic empowerment and gender equality,” said Lane. “If we build strong woman and girls, their success will lead to stronger families, communities, and ultimately, a better world.”
The IronWomen being honored at Stilettos & Champagne include Charryse Johnson, Chasta Martin. Christi Hicks, Christian Richmond, Clarissa Henderson, Colleen Banks, Darian Davis, Dorita Hatchett, Joselyn Coats, Joy Harrell, Karen Carter, Richards, Karen Hauser, Kimberly Myers, Kisha Hodges, LJ Henderson, Lydia Evans, Martica Sherman, Michelle Lewis, Misty Dawn Green, Naomi Hardy, Nettie Jones, Nikita Lamar, Patricia Carter, Peggy Shelton, Ruby Horace, Shay Singleton, Shemetre Richmond, Sheneva Handy, Shirley Brooks, Shirley Carter Williams, Sonjia Pelton-Sam, Sonya Troulier, TaNitra Robinson, Tiffany Massey Davis, Tiko Reynolds-Hausman, Vernita Harris, Vickie Semander and Wanda Adams.
Other community-focused initiatives include Stepping into Strength (SIS) Mentoring Program, Carla’s Closet, and IronWomen. By handing out awards, Lane wants to encourage those who selflessly give to others by putting them in the spotlight for an evening.
“It is important to honor the people who are working tirelessly to help women and girls succeed in a society that often views them as second-class citizens,” said Lane. “This award recognizes their efforts and encourages them to keep pushing forward.”
Tickets for Stilettos and Champagne are currently available (individual tickets are $150), and all proceeds go toward funding This Woman’s Work. Interested parties may register online for Stilettos & Champagne Fundraising Reception.
