HOUSTON, August 29, 2018 - The City of Houston Planning Department announced today the development of a multimodal mobility study inclusive of vehicular, transit, pedestrian, bicycle and freight in the area bounded by Interstate 610 to the north, State Highway 288 to the west, Sam Houston Toll Road to the south, and Interstate 45 and Galveston Road to the east.

"It is critical for communities, transit agencies, and public entities to effectively plan mobility improvements and access to transit," said Sharon Moses-Burnside, City of Houston Planning Department Transportation Division Manager. "This plan provides great opportunity for the City of Houston and community members to work together to maximize transit-oriented development, multimodal mobility gaps, and identify and prioritize short, mid and long-term mobility solutions.

The Plan to be completed over a twelve (12) month period will identify implementation projects that will improve mobility and access in the Southeast Houston Sub-Area. The Southeast Mobility Plan includes technical and steering committees to ensure the plan is community-driven and identifies the vision to address the communities’ priorities pertaining to mobility.

The first public meeting is scheduled for September 8, 2018 at Greater St. Matthew Baptist Church located at 7701 Jutland Road at 9 a.m. The meeting will review the existing conditions report, the goals of the plan, and seek community input to refine the plan.
