Statement by Senator Borris L. Miles El Paso and Dayton Mass Shootings
Style Magazine Newswire | 8/5/2019, 12:31 p.m.
"In the past 24 hours, our country witnessed two horrific mass shootings in El Paso, Texas and Dayton, Ohio. My heart goes out to the families and loved ones of the victims. My thanks go to the first responders and volunteers who rushed to aid the victims.
"The number of mass shootings grows each year and the President and our state’s leadership do nothing to stop guns from getting into the wrong hands. Currently, there have been more than 250 mass shootings this year alone and there are no safe havens. Churches, schools, playgrounds, festivals, synagogues, office buildings, universities and more have all been the site of these atrocities. We are at a critical point in our country as our nation is under attack from within and the President does nothing. How many more lives must be taken before real action is taken?
"As the injured recover and families bury loved ones, our nation’s leaders need to STOP the rhetoric that makes minorities targets and we need action to truly end this epidemic of mass shootings plaguing our country."
Keep the Faith, Keep the Fight!
