After two years of preparation, 50,000 will be in Houston to attend the Spanish-language “Love Never Fails”! International Convention of Jehovah’s Witnesses August 23-25, 2019, at NRG Stadium.
“This is a very diverse, warm, and
welcoming city,” said the Mayor of Houston, Sylvester Turner. This spirit will be especially appreciated by the 5,500 visiting international delegates from 23 countries, including Japan and the Philippines.
Mayor Turner praised the hospitality shown by local Jehovah’s Witnesses, adding that “those are very positive messages in a very diverse city that seeks to be more inclusive each and every day. So, it is very timely and very much appreciated and is consistent with who we are as a people in the city of Houston.”
James Gianopoulos, local spokesman for Jehovah’s Witnesses, says, “The wonderful relationship that we enjoy with the city of Houston made this the perfect venue for our event. Thousands of our volunteers have worked hand in hand with city and county officials in order to welcome 50,000 of our guests to NRG Stadium.”
The city of Houston is also excited about the convention’s positive economic impact. Being a host city will bring in an estimated $100 million in and around Houston. “They will partake of restaurants that reflect the culinary taste of people all around the world,” said Mayor Turner. “Then they will be able to go back to their respective homes and say that…we found a taste of home right here in the city of Houston.”
The convention is open to the public, admission is free, and no collections are ever taken.
