Debuting author Grace Madrid brings to life a favorite preschool fingerplay song in her children’s book titled “Austrian Went Yodeling” (published by Xlibris). Featuring the artistic talent of her grandson Vincent Madrid, this illustrated book invites young readers to a fun reading and singing experience.
On a high mountain, an Austrian goes yodeling and is interrupted by an avalanche, a skier, a grizzly bear, three Girl Scouts selling cookies and finally a preacher. What follows next is a series of adventures in rhythm, rhyme and repetition.
“Austrian Went Yodeling” is especially geared towards young children. The author asserts that they will love singing and doing the motions for the characters in this book and will have much fun yodeling the chorus that reads:
with an avalanche…rumble, rumble
with a skier…swish, swoosh
with a grizzly bear…”Grr,” growl
with three girl scouts…”Anybody want to buy Girl Scout Cookies?”
with a preacher man…”Amen!”
